The Don Bridger Class was formed 60 years ago in August 1962 as a Young Couples Class. The Rev. Don Bridger had been appointed pastor of Mt Zion UMC that previous June. He decided to form a Sunday School Class meeting for the first time in a church member's home. What started out with 9 members has now grown to around 100 on the class roster. We now meet in two combined rooms. Another change is that our original members are not so young! What hasn't changed is the Don Bridger SS class has remained caring, dedicated, loving and prayerful. Currently we have a rotation of 3 teachers that give a unique approach to the week's lesson, one of which video-records a lesson every week for the homebound. Our teachers inspire us to be disciples for others, and instill in each of us to go and reach out to those in need. Besides the weekly lesson, the class has social events and outings throughout the year. We support the various ministries of Mt Zion UMC.

small groups
Active engagement in small groups is a vital ingredient to healthy growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Jesus gathered his first followers into small groups, and then as the young church expanded, it was based on small groups gathering, flourishing, and influencing the greater community. Mt. Zion offers a number of different opportunities to be part of a circle of friends that will help you live into your potential!
weekly small groups
Men of Purpose
Sunday Mornings 6:30 am-7:30 am in the Log Hut by the Family Life Center. These men seek to walk alongside each other as they intentionally seek to walk purposefully through life as men of faith. This group uses various materials to assist with growing as followers of Jesus Christ.
Men's Community Prayer Breakfast
Wednesday mornings 7:00 am-8:00 am at First Baptist Church. Men from various churches in the area come together for fellowship, Bible Study, and prayer. Different pastors from the community help lead each week.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Wednesdays 10:30 am-11:30 am in the Church Parlor. This group gathers weekly to knit and crochet prayer shawls for people who are sick and hurting. They also make baby blankets that are given to children when they are baptized.
Mt. Zion Craft Nights
Whatever your ‘craft’, come join us for fun and fellowship as we work on our scrapbook or sweater
or quilt, a master painting, or just to chat!
This month, we will meet on Friday, September 9 and September 26, from 3 pm and again from 5:30 pm in the Hut (across from the Family Life Center). If you plan to come after 6 pm, please let us know.
